One of the Festival's special exhibitors will be bringing a 1901 Orient. owned that year by Mr. George King. This car was one of two built that year. It appears to have been prepared for exhibit at Madison Square Garden. Charles Metz had exhibited a car in 1900, however, he left the Waltham Manufacturing Company in December 1901, so the Orient did not go to New York.
When this car was built, George King's grandfather (also named George King), worked for Metz at the Waltham Manufacturing Company. He also left the company in 1901 and took a job in the neighboring town of Newton working for the Stanley Brothers making steam cars.
